Yogic Neuromuscular Therapy, as developed and taught by Dyal Singh Khalsa is an innovative, powerful and graceful form of therapeutic body work which draws upon the dynamics and principles of connective tissue release, Kundalini Yoga, and Reiki.

How YNMT Works

As a person experiences emotional or physical trauma, there are repercussions on many levels; physical, emotional and energetic. Connective tissue, in response, tightens and resists in order to armor the body from further harm. This armoring hastens the aging process while holding trauma memory and pain. Yogic Neuromuscular Therapy releases stress, tension, pain and trauma on physical, emotional and energetic levels by unwinding the traumatized tissue in a series of three movements:

  • There is focused contact between the practitioner's forearm and the client’s body.
  • There is lengthening of the connective tissue while maintaining focused contact.
  • Continuing the first two movements, the connective tissue is unwound with a unique spiraling motion.

It is through the unwinding of connective tissue that pain, tension and traumas can release, revitalizing and rejuvenating the body, allowing for rapid changes on multiple levels simultaneously. Yogic Neuromuscular TherapyTM brings together a unique combination of proven methods for what is often a profound healing experience.

Kundalini Yoga

Brought to the West by Yogi Bhajan, is a yogic healing technology which uncoils the infinite creative potential within. The spiritual energy known as Kundalini coils along the sacrum at the base of the spine. Through the use of postures (asanas), breath (pranayama) and sound (mantra), this energy can be naturally accessed and balanced. During a healing session, Kundalini Yoga techniques may be suggested to open energy pathways in the body and facilitate the process and treatment.

Reiki

A gentle, subtle energy, laying on of hands healing art through which the body regains its inner balance and can help to heal itself. Based in an ancient tradition, Reiki helps the practitioner and the client initiate the flow of life force energy in a gentle, relaxing experience. Reiki provides an environment for accelerated healing. Most sessions finish with this energy balancing treatment.

How to prepare for a session

Wear loose clothing for a session which may vary in length and scope to suit the client's concerns. During the session, the body is supported in a variety of simple yoga postures that provide optimal access and relief. When traumatized tissue releases physically and energetically, many psychological patterns and emotions can release as well. The effects experienced during the treatment may continue for several days afterward as the body adjusts into a new healing pattern. Relief from pain, increased range of motion, marked rejuvenation and a feeling of lightness are often reported after sessions. The release of emotional and psychological traumas are also often reported.

Thai Massage

A dynamic bodywork therapy based on yoga and Ayurveda was born in the temples of Thailand many centuries ago. Thai Yoga is performed on a mat on the floor and always begins with a prayer for the highest good of the recipient to be accomplished. The client and practitioner are both dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement and flexibility. It is a unique healing system - also called Nuad Boran during which the practitioner guides the recipient through a series of yoga postures while tracing the body’s energy (“Sen”) lines and pressures points. This is a wonderful treatment bringing relaxation and peace of mind by integrating the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. It helps to relieve muscular tension, by calming the mind and body, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically.
